I absolutely love to save a little or a lot of money. That’s right people you can find my in the clearance sections trying to see how I can make my coin stretch. I am the type to wait for an item to go down in price before I buy it. Having it first means nothing to me if I know I can save on it later. I am that girl with the coupons and a rewards card trying to see if I can use my employee discount too. Yep, and proud of it. I would much rather get what I want/need without my wallet feeling the blow. Saving a little here and there has helped me out a lot. Especially with life’s unexpected expenses. There are plenty of ways to save. Here are 6 ways to save money from day to day.
EAT AT HOME. Who doesn’t like eating out? You get full without having to cook, clean, or sweat in the kitchen. Eating out is a luxury that can add up before you know it. You can’t go wrong with a home-cooked meal, so instead of heading to Taco Bell try dusting off your cookbook. I like to prepare a pot of food for the week. Doing this allows me to have something to pack for lunch and something for dinner that only needs to be reheated. I buy little things for snacks like fruit and nuts, so I don’t have to drive around wasting money on food before I get home.
PACK YOUR LUNCH. Packing your lunch can be a huge money saver. Think about the $5 – $10 dollars you spend every day on lunch. Add all of that up at the end of the week. That could have all been used for something else. Like your gas tank. You add little things to your grocery list so that you don’t have to pat your pockets or search your car seats for a burger at the golden arches. Pack your food the night before. In the morning all you have to do is grab and go. While your coworkers are fighting traffic getting food that will leave them hungry in an hour you are already seated and eating.
FIX IT YOURSELF. Learning to do more for yourself will cost you so much less in the long run. For example, if you like weave or any type of hair extensions you know that it can get pretty pricey. You have to buy the hair then go get it installed and styled. That’s an option, or you can get your hair then head over to YouTube. You can find a video for everything there. Plus, you save a lot of time from being stuck in a chair at a salon all day. After you YouTube, your hairstyle try it out then keep learning. How great is YouTube? You can learn to change your oil, DIY a wooden table, and sew with the click of a mouse.
SET A BUDGET. Setting a budget for yourself keeps you from overspending. Sit down, go over your basic needs, and start jotting down how much you need to survive for a month. If you have any receipts this will help you plan everything out. Having your pay stubs will help a lot in this process. Knowing how much you make vs how much spend will help out a lot in making this budget if your lifestyle. You will be able to see what you may need to cut out or at least cut back on to make sure you have money left over after all your needs are met.
BUY IN BULK. Buying in bulk can be a lifesaver. No, you may not use 100 rolls of toilet paper in a month but if you find that $5 get it! Make it last as long as you can. Of course, that is an exaggeration, but you know what I mean. If you buy in bulk, you won’t have to buy the same products so often. Saving that money each month will allow you to be able to get other things you might want. Maybe you could use the extra bucks on those cute little owl earrings you saw on eBay last week.
CHECK BEFORE YOU SHOP. Checking to see what you have at home already will keep you from buying the same things repeatedly. There have been so many times I thought I was out of something, so I bought it again. Only to find it sitting in my cabinet when I got home. Checking for things you already have will save you cash and give you dinner ideas. You can buy things to pair with what you have at home.
