Learning to be the Bigger Person

Learning to be the Bigger Person

When you are triggered it can be hard to be the one to admit fault. Whatever petty situation you are in might bring you to feel like you need a petty attitude to go with it. That usually makes things a lot worst. Sometimes it’s better to just end it and walk away. That’s why it is important to start learning to be the bigger person so, you can stop wasting your time.

Being the bigger person in a difficult situation can be hard. Especially when you are dealing with difficult people. Some people have to be right even when they know that they are completely wrong. There is no use wasting your breath or time on people like this. In these cases, it is best to take your time and talents elsewhere. Let them argue with themselves. Plus, the worst thing you can do to someone who is trying to argue with you is to ignore them. It’s kind of funny. People will try to push all your buttons to get a reaction out of you. It is natural to want to lash out. You have to think about it. What good would that really do if the subject wasn’t important in the first place? Your time is precious. So, don’t waste it on stupidity.

Don’t get me wrong here. I am saying don’t defend yourself. I’m saying don’t waste your energy on something that won’t serve you in the long run. Being the bigger person often gets taken for being weak and/or passive. It’s quite the opposite. Analyzing a situation then concluding that it is not worth your energy is one of the smartest and strongest things you could do for yourself. It’s also one hell of a time saver. There is absolutely nothing wrong with saying “you got it” and letting go. Go spend your time being happy. Don’t waste your greatness looking as dumb as the person you are bickering with. Above all, treat yourself to peace of mind and start learning to be the bigger person. Are you usually the bigger person? Are you the bigger person? What’s your thought process?
