3 Ways the Pandemic Strengthens Relationships

3 Ways the Pandemic Strengthens Relationships

The COVID-19 pandemic has had me housebound for about two months now. As I have mentioned in previous posts, a lot of that time has been spent with my significant other. Spending that much time together can either drive you crazy or strengthen your relationship. With some much uncertainty right now, I have found some positivity in being home so much. It has tested us, but I have learned 3 ways the pandemic strengthens relationships.

1. COMMUNICATION. We all know that communication is key. Be sure to check out my post about it “4 reasons why communication is everything“. Though I am guilty of keeping my mouth closed when I shouldn’t, it’s always best to talk it out. We realize that we have no idea when things will return to what we are used to, so we have to make the best of the now. So, while we’re in close proximity we must get along. It is very much important for us to practice what we preach and talk things down to a clear agreeable understanding.

2. INCOME. More than ever, every penny counts. With millions of Americans on unemployment right now, there is no room for waste. We both make sure that we pay attention to what we have. I am always checking expiration dates and making sure that we don’t let anything go bad. For example, if we get ingredients for a salad, I know that we have to make that before anything else. This is because the produce doesn’t last that long. So, we eat it first to avoid wasting money. Along with that, we both keep track of everything we spend and our account balances. It is always important to be smart with your money, however, I am taking extra steps right now. We’ve definitely gone back to a few tips from “5 Ways to Save Money on Food“. There is a lot of thought put into every purchase.

3. TEAMWORK. I feel as though we are even stronger as a unit. We’re talking through things like pros. As a result, we have more happy days with each other.  We are in control of our finances and make smart decisions with each other. I feel like I am part of a strong team and it makes me happy. I love that we can put our heads together in this hard time and figure out how to survive. We also know now that we can spend quite a bit of time alone together.

COVID-19 has given us a new normal. Though the uncertainty can give you anxiety there is light. I have learned some amazing things about my relationship that has really help ease my mind about outside. I now know 3 ways the pandemic strengthens relationships and I would love to read about yours. Has it helped your relationship? What has your relationship gone through during the pandemic? What’s your thought process?

  1. I love this post! I’m currently living with my boyfriend and it hasn’t been without some challenges. It’s definitely taught us to communicate better, especially if we’re having a down day. We’ve also been going on our daily runs/walks together which has been so lovely as we’re away from any distractions and can focus on us. Great post! I can totally relate 🙂
